Our Team

Meet Our Atlanta Criminal Defense Attorneys

We started Pak and McRae Law, LLC because we wanted to defend the rights of those who have been charged with a crime in the Greater Atlanta area. We are from different backgrounds, but we both are fueled by the same, strong desire: to help people—people who are just like us—who made mistakes.

Our criminal defense practice in Decatur, Georgia, is dedicating to assisting individuals who have been accused of a felony, misdemeanor, or other offenses. If you have been charged with a DUI, theft, drug possession, or another type of felony or misdemeanor, we’re here for you.

Gunner Pak

Gunner Pak is a food lover, Atlanta Braves fan, former assistant district attorney, and partner here at Pak and McRae Law, LLC.

He knew that he wanted to be an attorney when, at the age of 12, he would watch The People’s Court and think up arguments for both sides. Today, he takes pride in coming up with creative yet ethical and viable options for his clients.

Gunner has extensive experience in both legal advocacy and prosecution in Georgia. Being a former Assistant District Attorney in the South Georgia Judicial Circuit and DeKalb County, he has a valuable understanding of the prosecution’s inner workings and the DeKalb County court system and uses those insights to, as he puts it, “Fight for people who’ve had their rights violated and are taken advantage of, just because they don’t understand the system.”

After two years with the DA’s office, he realized that he wanted to rededicate his career to standing up for the rights of the accused. Gunner began his Atlanta criminal defense practice by handling criminal cases for immigrants. He related to his clients’ situations because members of his family had to go through the arduous immigration proceedings.

Whenever he has spare time, Gunner will watch a Bulldogs, Hawks, or Braves game, turn on SportsCenter, or enjoy his favorite movie–Jerry Maguire. He also loves to play golf and explore the many restaurant choices here in the Metro Atlanta area.

Sam McRae

If Sam McRae could be a superhero, he would. But not having any superhuman powers, he decided he’d be a lawyer instead. He may not be able to scale a building, but he can and does help his clients over troubled waters when they seem impassable. To Sam, helping clients solve a seemingly insurmountable legal problems makes it all worthwhile.

Sam was introduced to the law at a young age when he used to help his attorney uncle out at the office. When he encountered legal problems of his own, his uncle helped him work through those mistakes. Therefore, when Sam says that he understands what clients are going through, he means it.

While at law school, he interned with the DeKalb County Public Defenders where he worked with appeals. He quickly moved into the courtroom and handled hundreds of criminal and traffic cases even before graduation. Thanks to these years of experience, Sam excels in the courtroom and has succeeded in getting many of his clients’ cases dismissed by applying the law of procedure alone.

Sam goes the extra mile for his clients. He helped challenge the constitutionality of the previous DeKalb traffic court when they were imposing 30 and 40 day jail sentences for minor offenses like speeding. He is always working to make his community a better place for everyone, and he loves every minute of it. He is always trying to change things for the better.

Johnny Waller

When people asked Johnny Waller what he wanted to be when he grew up, his answer was always the same: “lawyer.” While most kids would say “astronaut” or “professional baseball player,” Johnny knew right from day one that he wanted to practice law and defend those in need.

Today, Johnny is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, as well as the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. His current practice areas include traffic cases, criminal defense (misdemeanors and felonies), landlord-tenant cases, administrative hearings, and other types of civil litigation. He is most passionate about certain aspects of his work, with trial advocacy and motions practice at the top of that list.

Johnny’s favorite form of relaxation is watching sports. He is a self-proclaimed fan of “all things Georgia,” so he naturally loves to watch the UGA Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, and the Atlanta Braves.

If you are looking for a passionate criminal defense attorney in the state of Georgia, do not hesitate to contact your fellow Bulldogs fan. Johnny and the rest of the team at Pak and McRae Law, LLC want to help you get the defense that you need.
